Match Report
Cwmbran Celtic travelled to bottom placed Ynyshir Albions knowing that an away win would seal relegation for the Rhondda club. However, Albions were not about to throw the towel in and an 85th minute goal by substitute Deacon Greening delayed the axe for at least another week. The striker was a prolific scorer at previous club Blaenrhondda but this timely strike was his 1st league goal of the season in 20 games.
Celtic only once threatened the Albions goal when Tom Meechan scraped the bar early in the 2nd half. Their failure to find the net ended a run of 24 scoring games stretching back to the 0-1 defeat at Llanelli in August. This was an 18-year club Welsh League/Cymru {South} record beating the previous best 20 games between 2015 and 2017. Next up is a tough away game at Briton Ferry on Tuesday in which Celtic will be seeking retribution for a 6-0 thrashing at the Welfare Ground last season.
