Match Report
Last Sunday Celtic travelled to Pontypridd and lost a very tight game 1-0, which meant Pontypridd had completed the double – Celtic’s only two defeats in the league. The play was end to end with Ponty’s strikers looking dangerous when latching onto balls down the middle. In the 3rd minute keeper Preston made two saves to keep Ponty out. Celtic’s best chance in the 1st half fell to Lauren Boyd who shot over the bar when well placed.
Early in the 2nd half from a Celtic corner Fiona Anthony’s shot was stopped by an outstretched foot. In the 68th minute Celtic had a golden chance to take the lead when a long ball from the left found Fona Anthony who left the defence for dead but her shot was blocked by the keeper. Two minutes later Ponty scored the winner when a corner was punched clear by Preston but Caitlin Seaborne stepped back and shot left footed into the corner of the net. Gracie Grosvenor, 18 years of age, recently transferred from Caldicot Town, made her Celtic debut.
