Match Report
Cwmbran Celtic started the new season with a 4-3 home defeat against Taffs Well. Celtic presented all four goals to Taffs through defensive lapses. Maertins and Hooper scored in the 1st half. Lewis Iles pulled a goal back after the break but 2 more Taffs goals from Lyon and a Sam Powell own goals put the visitors 4-1 ahead and it looked as though the result on paper was a thrashing, but, to their credit, Celtic kept battling to the end and scored two goals in time added on through Taylor Davies and a 2nd goal for Lewis Iles.
Celtic were hampered by having six 1st choice players out including both central defenders and two strikers. They gave debuts to Shaun Moss and two 2 ex-Cardiff City teenagers, Kian Bodenham and Josh Rippon as well as a first start for 17 year old Luke Archer.
Next week Celtic have 2 tough away trips to Llanelli and Afan Lido (MG cup). They urgently need to sort their leaky defence out.
