Match Report
Both sides in this game at the Avondale Motor Park Arena were desperate to get the 3 points for a win as the Cymru South basement relegation battle intensifies. We will be disappointed with the 1-1 draw as we could not press home the advantage of the visitors being reduced to 9 players.
Brandon Davies put Rangers ahead in the 7th minute with a first time shot on the turn from a cross from the left. Rangers had the better of the chances in the 1st half and Lewis Watkins had to be alert to make two good saves. However, we equalised through a far post header by Mario van Dieren in the 42nd minute, the goal laid on by a cross from Sam Powell. In the 54th minute Morgan Andrews was sent off for a vicious studs up challenge on Andrew Larcombe.
Lewis Watkins then made a great save from a Warren Jones penalty in the 76th minute given for a tackle by Dylan Dinham. In the 79th minute a certain goal for Rangers was saved by a stupendous diving header by Sam Powell to divert the goalbound shot over the bar. On 90+4 minutes Owen Offord was sent off for a 2nd yellow card and in the last minute of time added on, after a scramble in the Rangers box, the ball fell to substitute Callum Wakeham whose shot was well saved by keeper Ireland diving to his right.
For Celtic substitute Thomas Dean made his debut.
