Match Report
The last game of the season in their first playing at tier 2 saw Celtic take on unbeaten BFL. The two previous encounters saw 16 unanswered goals so Celtic were in for a tough game.
The first half saw chances for both teams but eventually on 25 minutes BFL got the breakthrough.
H/T 0:1
The second half saw Celtic in the ascendancy and had the majority of possession and territory. They were rewarded on 61 minutes when a handball inside the BFL box saw Eloise Meaney smash in the resultant penalty to level the scores.
Celtic were now pressing for the winner which would mean them taking the league runners up spot. Numerous chances came our way but we just were unable to find the back of the net. Then with time running out and against the run of play BFL broke away and the league’s top scorer Witts, hit the winner.
Final score 1:2
A great season under the marshaling of head coach James Kinsella and goal keeping coach Sam ‘The Trucker’ Lewis saw Celtic exceed pre-season expectations with some quality signings adding to an already strong squad which bodes well for next season.
