Match Report
Celtic started the defence of their title with a comfortable outing against a spirited Aberaman side and gave the opportunity to rest some players while giving others more playing time.
It took a little while to adapt to the visitor’s defensive formation and after a few opportunities the deadlock was finally broken on 20 minutes by the industrious Jade Crofts who doubled the score five minutes later. Jodie Challenger pounced on a defensive mix up on 38 minutes to make it 3:0 and Crofts got her hat-trick just before the break and with seconds remaining Eloise Meaney tapped home to make the half time score a comfortable 5:0
The second half started where Celtic left off with some fine movement and inter passing which Aberaman had no answer to resulting in Georgia Shwartz netting to make it 6:0. When Fiona Anthony was introduced, it was just a matter of time before she opened her account and she netted twice on 69 and 71 minutes to extend Celtic’s lead. Amy Roderick got in on the act with Celtic’s ninth and then the pick of the bunch – a 30 yard screamer from Elena Scrivens – made the final score 10:0
A great all-round performance from all 15 players puts Celtic into round 2 where we will face Cascade in a repeat of last year’s Cup final. Let’s hope for the same outcome!!
