Match Report
A game where Celtic dominated possession and territory but didn’t create too many chances.
An early mistake saw Llanelli take the lead on 9 minutes but Celtic kept pushing and equalised after half an hour with a flowing movement leading to Fiona Anthony delivering a cross for Jade Crofts to open her account.
H/T 1:1
The second half saw more of the same with Celtic continuing to press but were unable to find the net. On 67 mins a rare breakaway saw Llanelli in on goal only for Celtic’s keeper Alex Cridland to mistime a tackle and was shown a red card.
A quick reshuffle saw Eloise Meaney and then Georgia Shwartz pull on the gloves although even with one less player, the keepers were seldom called into action.
With time running out, Llanelli defended gallantly and thwarted the waves of attacks. Celtic thought they had the winner in injury time with the keeper beaten but a goal line clearance kept the scores level.
With Swansea City next week’s opponent in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup a more improved performance will be needed.
