Celtic took all 3 points in this, the first of back-to-back local derbies against Abergavenny Town over the Christmas period. Celtic striker
Alex Bonthron continued his rich vein of form with a goal after 11 minutes to give his side the lead, which they kept to the break at half time.
In pretty atrocious conditions, Abergavenny came out with more purpose in the second half and put Celtic under a lot of pressure. However, the lads responded well with captain
Andrew Larcombe, ably assisted by ‘Man of the Match’
Andrew Hewitt, marshalling the defence to ensure the pressure didn’t result in any goals.
Celtic went on to win the game 3-0 with further goals from Tom Meechan & Dom
Connor.
A very satisfying result for Celtic who now move up to 9th place in the Cymru South League
