The 1st team romped to their best result of the season at Celtic Park winning 6-0 against bottom placed Abergavenny Town. Alex Bonthron 4 (including a penalty), Lewis McCauley & Lewis Iles scored the goals which made Celtic safe from relegation with 2 games to play. 16-year-old Oscar Balkwill made his Celtic debut.

Alex has been having a ding dong battle with Briton Ferry’s Luke Bowen for the top scorer throne in the Cymru South. The two strikers went into last week level on 22 goals. Luke then scored 4 in midweek only for Alex to also score 4 last Saturday. But later that afternoon Luke scored a hat-trick to open a 3-goal lead over Alex. Briton Ferry’s season is over so Alex has 2 games to score 3 goals to match Luke on 29 goals.

Tom Meechan is certain to finish top of the Assists with 17. He is 5 ahead of Tom Walters of Briton Ferry. Still on the matter of goalscorers, Lewis Iles played his 100th game at Llantwit Major last month in which he scored the equaliser.

The 3rd team lost 2-0 at top of the table Newport Corinthians. Youth player Matthew Grinham made his 1st appearance for the 3rds. Celtic are in 6th place in the league.

On Sunday the Youth team won 3-2 at Celtic Park versus Newport City. Goals by Jesse Jenkins, Jack Prosser & Gabriel Howells lifted Celtic to 3rd in the table.

The Vets 50s drew 0-0 at home with Swansea in the league cup but lost the penalty shoot-out 4-2.

The Womens Development team won 5-0 at Caerphilly Dragons in the League Shield. Scorers were Teagen Ely, Natalie Rostron (penalty), Bethan Percival & Alex-Marie Bond who scored twice in time added on.

The Girls Under 12s played 3 times last week. In midweek they lost 2-0 at league leaders Llanyravon Juniors. On Saturday they lost 7-0 at home to 2nd placed Ponthir but on Sunday they won 7-1 at home to Undy. Celtic are 6th in the table.
