Celtic maintained their return to form with an impressive 4-1 win at Monmouth Town. The pattern of play was very similar to that at Caerau (Ely) last week. A superb first half performance followed by a 2nd half where we took our foot off the gas.
Celtic took the lead in the 14th minute through a Chris Ham penalty after Josh Bull was unceremoniously upended in the penalty box. Ham laid on the 2nd goal in the 32nd minute for Owen Cook with an outrageous piece of skill and then a thumping tackle by James Young set up Simon Prangley to put Josh Bull through the middle just before half time. As only Josh can do, he swivelled left then right to draw the goalkeeper and then calmly slotted the ball home.
After the break Celtic continued to have the better of the game and Bull got his 2nd goal in the 47th minute. Celtic had further chances but were denied by two great saves from keeper Asa Kirkwood. The home side kept plugging away and their reward was a headed goal from a corner by Rob Laurie with the last play of the game.
